Growing Pineapple Plants From The Crown

I've always wanted to try to grow a pineapple, and now that we live here in the Philippines and pineapples are plentiful, it is the perfect opportunity to give it a shot!
We found two pineapples and carefully twisted off the tops, peeled a few leaves at the bottom, and place one in water directly and let the other one dry for a couple of days. After both were placed into water, we waited three weeks before planting them into the dirt.
