Sunset Ride to Magellan's Anchorage | Masao, Butuan City | Philippines
On August 18, 2020 the back rider shield for married couples and those living in the same household was lifted. Andy from @a Fili and some joe messaged me on my phone and asked if we wanted to go on a ride since the order for barrier shield was lifted. As always, with no set schedules, we said of course! Anything to get out of the house!
We took a nice 30-minute ride out to Masao (Masao Beach / Magellan's Anchorage) and took our time. We enjoyed the scenery and made a few stops along the way to get some amazing photos and video. It was Friday, August 21 and a holiday here in the Philippines (Ninoy Aquino Day), so there were quite a few people enjoying the beautiful evening at the beach. We walked along the beach with our wives, and ordered up some BBQ (to go) to eat and drink with a bottle of Tanduay at home. The ride was overall a great time and we were happy to show @a Fili and some joe this beach for their first time.
Masao Beach or Magellan's Landing is in the Barangay Masao, and is said to be the site where Magellan first landed in the Philippines in the 1500's. There is a statue commemorating the landing.
