Cooking Donuts Over Fire from Scratch | PHILIPPINES
I don't know anyone that doesn't like doughnuts! My niece learned how to make doughnuts watching YouTube. "I watched American YouTube how to make them". She took the idea and started making them out in the province in the small village where we have our beach house, and they have been selling out ever since she introduced this into her snack line-up. She sells them for 6-5 pesos a piece (depending on the size), and usually makes about 500-600 pesos ($10-$12) a day.
A simple recipe of water, flour, evaporated milk, butter, banana vanilla, and white sugar created hearty fluffy sugar coated doughnuts that are so Homer Simpson approved. As the say in Bisaya "lami!" or delicious!
After making her dough, her husband helps her weigh out a chunk of 100 grams, she flattens them and uses a small cap to create the hole. She then trows them into hot oil over a fire. After a few minutes on each side they seem to come out just perfect. No timers, just by eye.
We are very proud of her as she is always very creative in doing what she can to help provide for her family of four. A true entrepreneur and hard worker.
